Following a multi-tiered upgrade of the SmartFIX system, we are excited to offer the only GNSS Network-RTK service in the country, including coverage for the majority of the North and South Islands. The changes we have made include;

These changes significantly enhance SmartFIX and demonstrate Global Survey’s commitment to the network and to our growing user group. You will see enhanced coverage both from single sites and for networked regions, improved reliability and security, and greater uptime through the full integration of Glonass data streams.

No More PPM errors…Network RTK eliminates the distance-dependent errors that plague conventional internet base stations. Traditionally, every km from the base adds another 1mm to the rover position error. Network RTK gives you consistent RTK accuracy throughout the network.

No radio coverage restrictions…Traditional GNSS ties you to your base station and limits your effective range to the range of your radios, even if your gear could be operating 50km away. With SmartFIX, if you can get online and are in the network area, you can achieve cm-level accuracy.

SmartFIX is manufacturer-independent… Through Leica’s strong support of industry standards for correction messages, equipment from any GPS supplier can operate within the network.

Leica Viva TS15 – Robotic Imaging Total Station

Leica Geosystems is pleased to announce its new robotic Imaging Total Station, the Leica Viva TS15. This state-of-the-art total station provides advanced imaging functionality combined with dynamic tracking capabilities for one-person surveying. Furthermore, Leica Viva TS15 features the easy-to-use Leica SmartWorx Viva onboard software.
The Leica Viva TS15 adds a high-resolution camera to further enhance total station productivity. Traditional robotic operation is significantly improved with imaging features through Image Assisted Surveying and Documentation.
Image Assisted Surveying and Documentation

Thanks to live streaming of the total station view on the robotic controller, remote points can be easily measured with the new tap, turn & measure functionality without returning to the total station. With the new Image Capture functionality users can take high-resolution images of the surveying scene or even capture any screen shown on the display at the push of a button. The exact photo documentation of site conditions helps to further optimize productivity and to minimize paper field-notes and avoid costly re-visits.
Sketch Tool

Any new or captured image can be enhanced through sketching with any color, line style and width to uniquely transfer valuable information. Users will benefit from never again loosing their field-notes or struggling with drawing on wet paper.
Linking of Images

After capturing and sketching, the annotated images can be linked to any object of interest (point, line, area) or simply stored with a time stamp. Users can now exactly assign their images and archive them together with measurement data.

Grid scanning

The Leica TS15 now includes new grid scanning functionality. It is now easily possible to graphically define an area to be scanned on the total station view shown on the display. The total station will then rapidly scan the object to measure a true grid with survey accuracy.

Leica SmartWorx Viva Onboard Software

The Leica Viva TS15 incorporates Leica SmartWorx Viva onboard software to fully harmonize Leica Viva CS10 and CS15 controllers and the Viva TS15 total station on one easy-to-use productive software platform. Leica SmartWorx Viva provides a wide range of applications.


Leica Viva TS15 models and functionalities

The Leica Viva TS15 models offer angle measurements of 1”, 2”, 3”, and 5” with quadruple axis compensation. In prism mode a distance of 3’500m is achieved with an accuracy of 1mm+1.5ppm on a single prism in standard measuring mode. On all surfaces users can measure up to 1’000 m and more with an accuracy of 2mm + 2ppm.

Users can add full GNSS functionality to the Leica Viva TS15 total station to further improve productivity. The TS15 can be used as a Leica SmartStation for TPS setup without the need of control points, traverses, and resections, or as a Leica SmartPole to save time with setup ‘On-the-fly’ and measure parallel with TPS and GNSS for double productivity.

Leica Viva GS08 and Leica Viva GS12 GNSS SmartAntennas



We are pleased to announce two new members of the Leica Viva GNSS family – the Leica Viva GS08 and the Leica Viva GS12 GNSS receivers. The Leica Viva GS08 has been designed to create an ideal RTK network rover. The Leica Viva GS12 is a lightweight receiver that ergonomically combines GNSS and TPS as an integrated ‘All-on-the Pole’ system for productive one-person surveying. Additionally, we announce the new Leica Viva CS10 3.5G and CS15 3.5G field controllers. Both field controllers have a fully integrated high-speed 3.5G modem for connection to RTK reference networks and allow mobile broadband internet connectivity for field-to-office data transfer. Together with these new field controllers, the GS08 and GS12 provide two new GNSS measurement solutions, the Leica Viva NetRover and Leica Viva SmartPole.



Leica Viva NetRover – Turn-on & Measure The new Leica Viva NetRover consists of a GS08 GNSS receiver and a CS10 3.5G field controller, to create an easy to use, all-in-one GNSS network solution. Leica RoadRunner, RoadRunner Rail, RoadRunner Tunnel, On-Board Apps

Take the complete design for all types of alignments Road, Rail, Tunnels, Pipelines Canals, Runways or Earthworks into the field to ensure that correct information can be set out or checked as required. These apps use the design strings to calculate on the fly the setout information enabling the user to select any chainage on any string, or combination of strings to do the setout. Strings, Slopes, Crowns, Layers, Super-elevations, Cants, Overbreaks, and Underbreaks can all be handled with ease.



The design strings can originate from virtually any design package MXGenio and Inroads are supported as well as various LandXML and DXF formats. For those who prepare and check the data a simple design to field workflow has been established to convert files for on board use (12d and CivilCad both have direct RoadRunner exports available).

The RoadRunner series of Apps handles complete 3d design data, this includes the complete vertical and horizontal alignment geometry, the app does NOT convert horizontal and vertical curves into a series of straights but uses the actual instantious position on the design for all its calculations
